Music video up for award!

Music video up for award!

This is the lovely video made by Amy Warnock of one of my songs for the Film G 2013 competition. It has been shortlisted in the best music video catagory and I’m looking forward to going to the awards at the Arches in Glasgow at the end of March.

I composed Clann a’ Ghreusaiche in the style of a traditional  waulking song but changed the structure slightly and played around with jazz and blues influences to make it more chilled out. It is about my family and the island of Raasay and was written and recorded in Spring 2012 as part of a young gaelic songwriters workshop and recording session at the beautiful Watercolour Studios in Ardgour by Mary Ann Kennedy and Nick Turner.
